Sharing patient health information between authorised healthcare providers is now possible. Patients could find themselves in the Emergency Department and doctors there will be able to access your vital medical information such as allergies, long term medical conditions, test results and prescriptions. The aim is to provide limited, up to date patient information from health providers involved to enable better decision- making and improve the quality of care and outcomes for the patient.

From 1 July 1 2015, the ‘zero fees’ scheme already in place for children aged under six will be extended to enrolled children under 13 for general practice visits*, both during the day and after-hours. Under 13s are also exempt from the standard $5 pharmacy charge for each prescription item from 1 July 2015.

There is an additional vaccine to the childhood immunisation schedule. The Rotavirus oral vaccine is now given to newborn babies as part of their 6 weeks, 3 months and 5 months immunisations.
